Footsteps Family Dance Center is thrilled to bring back our long-time studio friend, Miss Allison Wilson, for a lyrical
workshop on Saturday, February 6, 4:30-6 pm. We love Miss Allison's emotional, challenging choreography and
great technical pointers! If necessary due to weather, this workshop will be postponed till February 27, 4:30-6 pm.
We welcome not only Footsteppers, but also friends from around the community. Beginner-Advanced levels can be
accommodated. The cost for this workshop will be $15 non-Company, or $10 for FDT Company members. If you're
interested in joining us, just call our office at 614-883-5599, and we'll get you signed up!

For January's contests Lindsey Halverson won the adorable Dancing Darling girl's outfit including matching shirt,
skirt, and leggings, and Johanna Johnson won the teeny tiny Barbie Nutcracker playset. Congratulations, kiddos!
Congrats, too, to Naomi Rowan for winning the Winter Open House drawing for a lovely ballerina Barbie doll.

This month, dancers can "buy" entries to win a box of gummy frogs, or a cute little stuffed ballerina cat. The drawing

One of our favorite holidays to celebrate at Footsteps is Valentine's Day--since our studio is inspired & sustained by a
God who tells us that He is love personified, what better subject to honor? This year we're showing our love by inviting
our students to wear red/pink/hearts to class the week of February 8-13, and by playing a fun game at the end of
class in which each dancer gets to spin an arrow, picking a love-gift from the bin that the arrow points to. What fun, &
all because we love our dancers & their families!
God who tells us that He is love personified, what better subject to honor? This year we're showing our love by inviting
our students to wear red/pink/hearts to class the week of February 8-13, and by playing a fun game at the end of
class in which each dancer gets to spin an arrow, picking a love-gift from the bin that the arrow points to. What fun, &
all because we love our dancers & their families!
Every year, one of our most popular events with our Footsteps Dance Theater Company accelerated program is the
Company Sleepover. This event is for the dual purposes of work and fellowship--we get a lot of props & scenery
bonding with our teammates!
This year's food buffet will be appetizers--anything you can pick up with your fingers is fair game! A sign-up sheet
will be posted so you all can see what everyone's bringing and provide our team with a good variety. In addition,
we'll do simple cereal for breakfast, so if you folks supply a box of cereal each, we'll supply the milk & bowls.
Just bring your sleeping bag, pillow, pj's, slippers, favorite music, & lots of energy! In addition, we'll have our annual
debut of our competition dances in the middle of the night, so don't forget your dance shoes! Be ready for a fun
Big/Little Sis/Bro activity, too........
If you will be late to or must leave early from the Company Sleepover, please sign up on the special sheet indicating
this. The sleepover is a mandatory Company activity, so we definitely freak out if you're not there when we expect
you to be!

Keeping with our 1980's Spring Concert theme, this piece is a 9-minute medley of popular 1980's songs that each
represent a different musical genre of that era. We learn the choreography in just 3 rehearsals--no really, just 3!--
on the following dates/times:
Thursday, June 3, approximately 7:15-8:30 pm
(exact time will be announced with dress rehearsal schedule)
All rehearsals are mandatory. In committing to the Father/Daughter Dance, dads & daughters must commit to
performing this piece in all 3 shows, even if they have no other dances in a given show. The fee to join the fun is
$18, plus $6 for each additional dancer if siblings will be participating; this is charged with your May tuition.
"Costumes" for the FDD are TBA, but are always based on garments that most folks already have in their closets,
to which we add fun accessories like hats, ties, aprons, suspenders, etc. Hand-held props may also be involved--
hence the fee to participate!

Battle of the Bands: Rockin' the 80's With Dad
Keeping with our 1980's Spring Concert theme, this piece is a 9-minute medley of popular 1980's songs that each

| Today classes are running according to our normal schedule--yay! Sr Jazz Co has been rescheduled to Saturday, Feb 20 2:00-3:00. Jr Tap Co & Sr Hip Hop have been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb 27 2:00-3:00. Iintermediate Jazz will be lengthened to 9:30 for the next 6 weeks. The lyrical workshop has been rescheduled to Feb 27 4:30-6:00. Recreational classes may take any class of the same genre (i.e. jazz, ballet, etc) in their own level or any level below their own as a make-up. Ask in the office for specific makeup options. |
