FDT Company Goes to Nationals!
New Staff for 2010-11 Season
Current Calendar
Fall Registration Now Underway!
The fall schedule is available on our Schedules page, and we've been registering folks for our 2010-11 season
since May. Some classes are filling up, so if you are interested in becoming a member of the Footsteps family,
don't hesitate too long to sign up for your first pick of classes! Schedule changes do happen occasionally until
October 15, so check back weekly for updates.

If you would like to register for fall classes, you've got 3 options: 1) Visit us at the studio and register in person;
2) Print and fill out the forms on our Downloads page and send them plus the registration fee and first month's
tuition to us via snail-mail; or 3) Register online using the form on our Online Registration webpage. The best
method to guarantee your spot in the classes of your choice is face-to-face registration by visiting the studio;
the other 2 options take a bit more time, so it is possible that your spot could be filled before your registration
process is complete.

Experienced dancers who are interested in transferring to Footsteps should call us at 614-883-5599 or email us
at footstepsfamilydance@yahoo.com to schedule an evaluation so we can place you into our program in just
the right levels.

No matter how you sign up, we'll be thrilled to have you join the Footsteps family! Fall classes begin August 30,
2010.
Fall Registration Open Houses

From July 21-25, the Footsteps Dance Theater Company performed their competition routines at Cathy Roe's
Ultimate Dance Challenge in Mason, Ohio. This was our 2nd trip to CRUDC, and we were excited not only to
display our own talents there again, but also to see dancers from all across the country & even the world
exhibit their own unique choreography & performance styles. While in Mason, our dancers also took technique
classes, shopped at Ikea, Jungle Jim's, & other stores that we don't have here at home, & had fun in the sun
at King's Island. We had a ball!

At competition our dancers performed in 2 rounds: preliminary qualifying, then finals. We had our best results
ever! Our choreography was consistently lauded as original, clever, well-staged, and "cute"--that is very
encouraging, since we pride ourselves on developing our own instructors' choreographic abilities, rather than
bringing in outside choreographers for our competition numbers. Our dancers were complimented by both
judges and other studio owners & instructors as being versatile, technically sound, and possessing wonderful
stage presence. We were very proud of our performances, and our dancers really came through as a team,
pulling off their best performances of the year. Way to go, kiddos! Our results are below:

Friends & families of Footsteps who have checked out our fall schedule may have noticed some different
names in the "Instructor" column. Our family is growing! Pooling their knowledge, experience, & enthusiasm
with your favorite FFDC veteran teachers are newcomers Kenny Brown and Chrissy Stridsberg.

Mr Kenny will be teaching Boys Hip Hop, Sr Hip Hop Company, as well as a Company duet & trio this year,
and if the response of our summer dancers is any indication, he will quickly become a favorite teacher with his
subtle sense of humor, laid-back but motivating attitude, and creative choreography! Miss Chrissy will be
teaching Jazz Intermediate, Jr Jumps/Turns, Men's Technique, and Sr Lyrical Company, along with a
Company duet and several solos. Our summer students have already been gushing about how warm &
friendly she is, how transparent & fun, and they're terribly excited about her style of teaching & choreography
that's pushing them in new directions!

The Footsteps office will sport some new faces this season too: Miss Kristi and Miss Courtney. Miss Kristi has
been involved with Footsteps since our very first year, as mom to Company dancer Hannah Carter. She will
take on receptionist duties during our morning Genesis classes, who will no doubt very quickly come to love
her calm, peaceful, friendly demeanor! Miss Courtney will be starting her first year on staff here as our
Wednesday night receptionist, getting her "kid fix" each week as she learns the FFDC ropes and continues
her dance education in anticipation of one day transferring to the teaching staff. Her cup of love for dance
and for people runneth over, and we're looking forward to enjoying her enthusiasm here!

To learn more about our newest staff members, check'em out on our "About Us" page--we've got photos, too!
We hope you'll fall in love with Mr Kenny, Miss Chrissy
, Miss Kristi, and Miss Courtney just like you have with
the rest of the Footsteps staff. They love you already, sight unseen, and can't wait to get started with fall
classes!
Yearbooks & DVD's
Ever since the day after the Spring Concert, folks have been asking, "When are the Yearbooks & show

You may pick up your DVD's for both the Spring Concert & Cathy Roe Nationals at our Fall Registration
Open Houses (see above for the dates & times) or after fall classes start on August 30. We'll be glad to see

FFDC is Now on Facebook & Merchant Circle
Well, truth be told, we've been on Facebook for about a year, but we can always use more friends! Joining the
Footsteps Facebook page is a great way to keep up with the most important events & deadlines that are going
on at the studio, including due dates, workshops, special promos, & weather cancellations, among other
things. So search us out on FB and join our circle of friends!

Speaking of circles, Footsteps Family Dance Center has recently joined Merchant Circle. Merchant Circle is an
online business network where folks like you can find coupons, blogs, reviews, etc. about local businesses. We
are currently running a couple of coupons that may interest you: One for a free Tap Intro Session (4 wks,
1x/wk, ages 7+) with the purchase of any other class in a different genre (ballet, jazz, hip hop), for both new &
existing clients; another for $10 off your registration fee if you are a new client. Every month or so, we'll be
running new coupons, and there will be some for new folks & some for the folks we know & love, so check our
listing frequently! You can also keep up with studio events there via our weekly blogs.

To check out our Merchant Circle listing, just

Get Spicy with FFDC's New Zumba Classes!
We are excited to add the latest dance-fitness craze to our cast of characters: Zumba! Certified Zumba
(pronounced "zoom-bah") instructor Debbie Moorehead will offer a free trial class on Friday, September 10,
10:00-10:30 am, for those who would like to try before they buy. Zumba students will find themselves doing
basic Latin dance steps to peppy south-of-the-border music, getting a cardio workout that they don't even
notice because they're having so much salsa fun!

Those who are interested continuing with Zumba may join us for our first 6-week session, meeting Tuesday
& Friday mornings, 10:00-11:00 am--12 classes total. The first couple of classes may run a bit shorter as
Miss Debbie gradually eases you into the whole hour. If you'd like to join us, just throw on a pair of sweats or
shorts, a T-shirt, & your sneakers, & c'mon over!

The cost for a full session is $115, but those who register at September 10's free trial get $5 off! For more
info or to sign up, please contact Debbie Moorehead directly at artsy1@columbus.rr.com, or 614-214-6351.
You can also check out her photo & bio on our About Us page.

Don't be bashful--come do something good for your heart, dance off some of the baby weight, make some
fun friends, & get healthy with an FFDC Zumba class!
