will include info, a video, games, and best of all, food & beverage samples! A bonus for students who sign up for this
seminar is that their moms are welcome to attend for free; just let us know on the sign-up sheet if your mom will be
coming along or not. Dancers ages 8+ of all levels are invited, both from FFDC and from the surrounding community.
The cost for this workshop is $15 non-Company, or $10 for FDT Company members. If you're interested in joining

October's monthly contest winners were Morgan Conley, who won the adorable frog ballerina shirt for her little sister
Maya, and the winner of the ballerina lunch cooler was Abigail Seipel. Congratulations, dancers!
For November, dancers may enter drawings to win a pink rolling attache case or a ballerina Barbie-type doll. Entries
are unlimited & cost 2 tokens each. We'll draw the winners on December 1--good luck!
Dancers who contribute non-perishable food items to our collection during the week of November 17-22 will be
entered in a drawing for a $45 gift card to Darden Restaurants (Olive Garden, Red Lobster, & others). The winner
will be announced December 1.
The Footstepper of the Month is a dancer at Footsteps who is randomly chosen to let us know a little bit about him/herself. To know them is to love them!

For the month of October, our Footstepper of the Month was ballerina Nicolette L. 12-year-old Nicolette
is the daughter of proud parents Jim & Mary, and sister of Luke. She's a 7th grader at St. Brigid of
Kildare School whose favorite subject is math. Her school accolades include Star Student in 2005 and
Honor Roll in 2006 and 2007. She loves to eat spaghetti, which fuels her for both dancing and her other
hobbis, which are synchronized swimming and volleyball. Nicolette loves the color light green--perfect
for any Footstepper, since our mascot is a frog! She really admires her schoolteacher, Mr. Dinovo,
because he is very intelligent and makes learning fun. However, when Nicolette grows up, she aspires
to be a children's physical therapist; unfortunately, a sprained ankle has kept Nicolette out of dance
recently, but due to her injury, she may have found her calling! She worships the Lord at St. Brigid
Church, where she's active in choir. Nicolette is an outgoing, friendly, driven person who likes dancing
because she feels like she's expressing herself and because it makes her feel good. Her favorite thing
about Footsteps is the friendly atmosphere and how kind everyone is to each other--oh, and she loves
the decor, too! She herself has kind things to say about her ballet instructor, Miss Jennifer, whom she
loves for being so kind and encouraging. A little-known fact about Princess Nicolette is that she is
David Archuletta's #1 fan! Well, Nicolette, along with your family, the Footsteps staff are YOUR #1 fam,
and we're blessed that you're a part of the Footsteps family! God bless you as you grow stronger,
smarter, and more like Jesus every day!
Thanksgiving Break is November 26-29 Enjoy celebrating with your families!

Celebrate Thanksgiving with us at Footsteps during the week of November 17-22 as we host Turkey Feathers &
Fun Week! The "feathers" part refers to the paper turkey feathers on which students can write what they're
thankful for, and add them to our big turkey, Stanley. Part of the "fun" will be adding non-perishable food items
to our collection, which we will donate to a local food pantry, making us a blessing to others and giving them
something to be thankful for. More "fun" will be had when those who donate food are entered in a drawing for a
$45 gift card to Darden Restaurants (Olive Garden, Red Lobster, & others)! Students may also dress up like
those who participated in the first Thanksgiving: turkeys, pilgrims, or Native Americans, or enjoy wearing
Thanksgiving-themed T-shirts or sweatshirts to class that week. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

Turkey Feathers & Fun Week

The week of November 10-14 is Costume Measuring Week, when the Footsteps staff measures all students for
their Spring Concert costumes. Parents should expect to stay an extra 10-15 minutes after class; if staying late
is not possible, please come 10-15 minutes early to get measured. Please please please do not miss class
during Measuring Week!!!
Pictures of this year's costumes and their accompanying songs will be posted in the studio lobby on December
1. The Spring Concert schedule (which show your dancer is in) will be posted December 1 also. Changes
cannot be made to the schedule--please do not ask!
For information about how costumes are sized, ordered, distributed, etc., please refer to the green Spring
Concert Handbooks that are in your mailboxes as of Nov 1.
If you have a dancer at Footsteps, you already know how beautiful our students are. We think so too, and this
year we are sharing it with the world with 2 unique gifts that feature photos of Footsteppers in action: notecards
and desk calendars. The notecards feature 8 different designs, with a Bible verse on the cover. They are blank
inside, come with matching white envelopes, and are packaged in pretty organza bags. The cost is $11/set + tax.
Notecards will be available for purchase beginning November 3, but don't wait too long to claim yours--there are
only 40 sets available! A sample set is displayed in the lobby.
We will also offer desk calendars, which make great stocking stuffers for family and friends--great for Dad's desk
at work! Each calendar stands up by itself and proudly displays 12 months' worth of photos of our dancers. A
bonus is that important dates, deadlines, and events at the studio are built right into it, so this handy calendar
can ensure that you don't miss a single minute of fun at dance! Desk calendars will be available for advance
order only beginning in mid-November, and will cost $13 each + tax. The deadline or order is December 10.
Calendars will be delivered to the studio in time for Christmas Break. Check out our examples of last year's
calendar in our lobby; examples of this year's will be available later this month.
Through the month of November, a colorfully-wrapped box will decorate the front table in the lobby, where parents
can submit their questions and suggestions. We desire to be effective servants of Jesus Christ by serving you,
our clients, to the best of our ability--this is your chance to clue us in to how we're doing, and what you feel we
could do to make your experience at Footsteps the best it can possibly be! Please be kind in how you say what
you say--we do have feelings, y'know!
Questions may be answered in the "Ask the Director" column of Footnotes, our monthly newsletter, and/or may be
addressed in next year's Spring Concert Handbook. This year we implemented several suggestions given to us
last year by parents. Our policy is this: if we can, we will, and if we can't, we'll try to explain why not. Questions and
suggestions are to be submitted by parents only, not students. Thanks in advance for your feedback, folks!
The Footsteps staff congratulates Caroline Carpenter and Maggie Latham for earning promotion from Beginner
to Intermediate Jazz--way to go, girls!
We also congratulate Bailey Decoursey, who was promoted from Pearl (Intro) Pointe to Topaz (Beginner)
Pointe. You go, girl!
Dancers who are promoted prior to Dec 10 will get to perform with their new level in the Spring Concert.
In November, every FFDC family will receive a bright green (hard to misplace!) Spring Concert Handbook in their
mailbox. This publication is designed to answer parents' FAQ about our end-of-year show--information reduces
stress, and the purpose of giving parents this info is to make the performance process as stress-free as possible.
We want our parents to enjoy the performances as much as their kids do! We strongly recommend that parents keep
these Handbooks somewhere accessible, and that they read the sections that apply to upcoming milestones in
preparing for the show. For instance, in November, we start dealing with costumes; there's a section in the Handbook
all about how we size, order, distribute, & alter costumes--parents will know everything they should about this
process if they take 5 minutes to read that section. You're only as clueless as you allow yourself to be at Footsteps!
This Handbook is part of what your registration fee paid for, so make the most of those dollars and read your
Handbooks, folks!
